Details

Description:

A white water-soluble powder containing the essential electrolyte salts, sodium chloride, sodium bicarbonate, potassium chloride, and disodium hydrogen phosphate.

Action:

Trolyte is a palatable source of the essential electrolytes and when reconstituted with water these elements are absorbed to rehydrate and return electrolyte balance to normal.

Trolyte is formulated to provide a balanced mixture of electrolytes similar in proportion to the electrolyte content of milk.

Indication:

An aid in the treatment and prevention of dehydration and electrolyte loss associated with diarrhoea in calves.

Dosage:

Mix 30g of Trolyte to 5 litres of water. For the first 24 hours of treatment milk feeding should be stopped and replaced with Trolyte solution, fed at the rate of 1.25 litres every six hours (i.e. 5litres over 24 hours).

Trolyte solution should be offered to the calf as a main drink initially and milk should be gradually re-introduced as the condition of the calf improves.

To re-introduce milk feeding mix one part milk to three parts Trolyte® solution. At each subsequent feed increase the proportion of milk.

Usually 10 litres of Trolyte solution is sufficient to treat each calf depending of course on the severity of the condition. Most calves readily accept Trolyte, especially as a warm drink, and Trolyte may be given as a drench or by stomach tube. Mix Trolyte® daily and administer; if condition does not improve seek veterinary advice.

Pack:

1kg, 3kg and 25kg packs.
